Trends in Social Media Marketing

Should your company have a presence in the Google Play Store?

I was recently browsing through an article posted by Torsion Mobile ** which gave statistics comparing desktop searchers vs. mobile searcher. I found the statistics fascinating. For instance, did you know that when a desktop searcher visits a website, it takes them a week to make a decision to act on that search; however, when a mobile searcher visits a website, it only takes them an hour to act? This would tell me that, even though I may not have as many mobile visitors as desktop visitors, the mobile visitors are ready and motivated to buy.

Another interesting statistic they mentioned is that more mobile searchers than desktop searchers are looking at local sites. That tells me they are in their cars, just looking for a place to shop. I sure would prefer that they stop at my place of business than the competition down the street!

Some suggestions you might implement to reach mobile searchers include:

  • Mobile searchers tend to use more specific search criteria, so use longer, more targeted key words on your web pages.
  • If you're like me, you make more typos when using your smartphone, so include common misspellings or abbreviations you might use when you're typing on a miniature keyboard.
  • Make it easy for mobile searchers to get in touch with you: have click to call, click for directions, click to find buttons so they don't have to do a lot of typing.
